behold the boat

...in my garage. It is here. The boxes were heavy. I have to make my syllabus for summer session before I can play with it. Damn.

Photos to follow.

Matthew:Dog Fork along with Corn creek are billed as streams growing wild brook trout."Wild Brook Trout" words that will get most any fly fisherman off the couch and on the road to the Red River Gorge with expectations of cold clear mountain streams flowing over ancient rocks making that crisp bubbling sound that seems so right and proper in the wilderness. You cannot wait---so goes the story-----
In reality, the gorge after surviving the great dam scare of the 70's,has gone downhill for years---the trash on the creek banks you saw is relatively mild compared to the enviro nightmare called Nada--The Gorge will never ever be "The Little Smokies" it was touted to be by smalltime Eastern Ky speculators who ended up losing their ass on cheaply built cabins and gaudy go kart tracks.I have fly fished for 35 years.I've fished everywhere from the firehole in Yellowstone-to the San Juan in New Mexico to the tailwaters of the Cumberland, what all these great waters have in common is concience and respect by those who use them---The Red River Gorge lays dead in the middle of APPALACHIA--which means it must contend with a moronic mindset that tells the proudly uneducated folks who live there to litter and deficate as needed--it is a no win situation--your comments were dead on---have fished all of dog fork--have had some ok dry fly action--and have caught several small brook trout---Larry Auxier j50aoxier@yahoo.com--Am a pharmacist and lived in Eastern Ky all my life--own Plaza Pharmacy in Irvine

wow Larry. That's a bummer. I do have to say there are a lot of pretty things in that area, just a shame they aren't taken care of better. And the trout fishing sucked.

It's too bad the days of hiring Pinkertons to rough up uncooperative hillbillies is at an end.
